Sir Edmund Percival Hillary, KG, KBE (* 20. Juli 1919 in Auckland; † 11. Januar 2008 ebenda) war ein neuseeländischer Bergsteiger. Zusammen mit dem nepalesischen Bergsteiger Tenzing Norgay, einem Sherpa, gelang ihm am 29. Mai 1953 die Erstbesteigung des Mount Everest, des höchsten Berges der Erde.
