Isaac Asimov (englisch [ˈaɪzək ˈæzɪmɔv]; * 2. Januar 1920 in Petrowitschi, Russische Sozialistische Föderative Sowjetrepublik; † 6. April 1992 in New York, Vereinigte Staaten) war ein russisch-amerikanischer Biochemiker, Autor von Sachbüchern und zahlreichen populärwissenschaftlichen Büchern und Artikeln sowie einer der bekanntesten Science-Fiction-Schriftsteller seiner Zeit. Zusammen mit Arthur C. Clarke und Robert A. Heinlein wird er oft als einer der „Big Three“ der englischsprachigen Science-Fiction aufgeführt.
