Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (* 1. Juli 1742 in Ober-Ramstadt; † 24. Februar 1799 in Göttingen) war ein Physiker, Naturforscher, Mathematiker, Schriftsteller und der erste deutsche Professor für Experimentalphysik im Zeitalter der Aufklärung. Lichtenberg gilt als Begründer des deutschsprachigen Aphorismus.
