Hassanal Bolkiah (* 15. Juli 1946 in Bandar Seri Begawan; vollständige Kurzform Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, vollständiger Name Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien) ist der 29. Sultan und Yang Di-Pertuan von Brunei. Er wurde am 5. Oktober 1967 Sultan und folgte seinem Vater Omar Ali Saifuddin III. Der Sultan ist Staatsoberhaupt, Vorsitzender des Ministerrates, Premier-, Verteidigungs-, Außen- sowie Finanzminister und oberster Hüter der islamischen Staatsreligion. Seit dem Tod der britischen Königin Elisabeth II. im September 2022 ist er das weltweit dienstälteste Staatsoberhaupt.
