John Dalton (* 6. September 1766 in Eaglesfield, bei Cockermouth, Cumberland; † 27. Juli 1844 in Manchester) war ein englischer Naturforscher und Lehrer. Wegen seiner grundlegenden Untersuchungen zur Atomtheorie gilt er als einer der Wegbereiter der Chemie.
