John von Neumann (* 28. Dezember 1903 in Budapest, Österreich-Ungarn als Neumann János Lajos; † 8. Februar 1957 in Washington, D.C., Vereinigte Staaten) war ein ungarisch-US-amerikanischer Mathematiker. Er leistete bedeutende Beiträge zur mathematischen Logik, Funktionalanalysis, Quantenmechanik und Spieltheorie und gilt als einer der Väter der Informatik. Später veröffentlichte er als Johann von Neumann und war in Vorlesungsverzeichnissen als Johann Neumann von Margitta gelistet; heutzutage ist er vor allem unter seinem in den USA gewählten Namen John von Neumann bekannt.
