Rudolf Franz Ferdinand Höß [hœs] (* 25. November 1901 in Baden-Baden; † 16. April 1947 in Auschwitz) war ein deutscher Nationalsozialist, SS-Obersturmbannführer und von Mai 1940 bis November 1943 Kommandant des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz. Er war verantwortlich für den Tod von weit mehr als einer Million Menschen und wurde 1947 in Polen als Kriegsverbrecher zum Tode durch den Strang verurteilt und am Ort des ehemaligen Stammlagers hingerichtet.
