Ali Chamenei (auch Ali Khamenei; [æˈliː xɔːmenɛˈiː], persisch علی خامنهای ’Ali Chamene’i, DMG ‘Alī-ye Ḫāmene’ī,; * 19. April 1939 in Maschhad; † 28. Februar 2026 in Teheran) war ein iranischer schiitischer Geistlicher und Politiker und von 1989 bis zu seinem Tod als Oberster Führer oder „Revolutionsführer“ (persisch رهبر انقلاب, DMG Rahbar-e enqelāb) das politische und religiöse Oberhaupt der mehrheitlich schiitischen Islamischen Republik Iran. Zugleich war er die höchste geistliche Instanz im Rang eines Ajatollah und Oberbefehlshaber der Streitkräfte. Chamenei regierte diktatorisch und hielt während seiner jahrzehntelangen Herrschaft gewaltsam ein islamistisches totalitäres System aufrecht, in dem es zu einer Vielzahl schwerwiegender Verletzungen der Menschenrechte kam. Er wurde gleich zu Beginn der israelisch-US-amerikanischen Angriffe auf den Iran im Jahr 2026 getötet. Ihm folgte sein Sohn Modschtaba nach.
