Allan Kardec (* 3. Oktober 1804 in Lyon; † 31. März 1869 in Paris; eigentlich Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail) war ein französischer Spiritist und Begründer des Kardecismus, der auf einem Glauben an Mediumismus und Reinkarnation beruht. Weitgehend unbekannt außerhalb Frankreichs, beeinflusste seine Variante des Spiritismus seit der Mitte des 19. Jh. die urbane Mittelschicht Brasiliens.
