Paul Benjamin Auster [pɔːl ˈbendʒəmɪn ˈɒ:stɚ] (* 3. Februar 1947 in Newark, New Jersey; † 30. April 2024 in Brooklyn, New York) war ein US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller jüdischer Herkunft, der auch als Filmregisseur, Drehbuchautor, Kritiker, Übersetzer und Herausgeber arbeitete. Seine Werke wurden in über 40 Sprachen übersetzt. Auster war in erster Ehe mit der Schriftstellerin Lydia Davis und in zweiter Ehe mit der Schriftstellerin Siri Hustvedt verheiratet.
