Pierre Bayle [pjɛʁ bɛl], [pjɛʁ bail] (* 18. November 1647 in Le Carla, heute: Carla-Bayle, Département Ariège (Okzitanien); † 28. Dezember 1706 in Rotterdam) war ein französischer Schriftsteller und Philosoph. Bayle gilt zusammen mit dem zehn Jahre jüngeren Bernard le Bovier de Fontenelle als zentrale Figur der Aufklärung. Sein wichtigstes Werk ist das Dictionnaire historique et critique (1697).
