Teresa von Ávila (im Deutschen auch Theres(i)a von Avila; spanisch Teresa de Ávila), geborene Teresa Sánchez de Cepeda y Ahumada (* 28. März 1515 in Ávila, Kastilien, Spanien; † 4. Oktober 1582 in Alba de Tormes, bei Salamanca), war eine spanische Ordensfrau und Autorin. Sie war Karmelitin sowie Mystikerin und gilt als „berühmteste Nonne des frühneuzeitlichen Katholizismus“. In der katholischen Kirche wird sie als Heilige und Kirchenlehrerin verehrt. Oft wird sie die „große Teresa“ genannt, um sie von der heiligen Theresia vom Kinde Jesus (von Lisieux) zu unterscheiden.
